女媧是中華民族的始祖女神。傳說女媧藝黃土造人，將男女配成夫婦，使人類得以生息繁衍。
後來共工與顓頊爭帝，致天地陷裂，烈火不滅，洪水不息，於是女媧煉五色石補蒼天，使大堤恢復安寧，人民重新安居樂業。
Nuwo is a goddess,highly regarded as the creator of the Chinese race. She made human beings with yellow clay,and established the relation between the male and female sexes.
According to legend,the fight for power between Gonggong and zhuanxu seriously affected the stability of the universe.The heaven was cracked.The earth was suffered from forest fires and floods.Finally,it was the effort of Nuwo to restore the order of the universe.Her major achievement was to fill up the broken holes in the heavern with five-colour stones made by her.
