Resume of Li Xiangming

He was born in Shexian of Hebei Province, on 09^th March (Lunar New Year February 14) 1952. His grandfather was a teacher in a private school before the agrarian and was good at poetry, calligraphy and painting.

His father had been working for the telecommunication branch, and good at painting, photography.

His mother did housework, and was good at embroidery and paper cutting. She was organized participate in public welfare activities very often by the Era of Great Leap Forward, and suffered a lot in her life.

Li Xiangming loved painting from nature, and was deeply affected by his grandfather and father, and nurtured by various art forms of northern folks. He made graffiti everywhere, handworks, clay toy in his childhood. He even made a set-off of "Shadow" (out of strawboard) and showed them in the Village Street.

As he was more than two years old, he named himself "Xiangming."

1958, 6-year-old

l He followed his mother to pick cinder before the blast cinder furnace.

1959, 7-year-old

l He was boarded by his grandfather and went to school and was loved by the director Mrs. Liu Wenxiu who was good at painting.

1963, 11-year-old

Returned to the city in Hebei Province and attended the Shexian Nanguan School in fifth grade which had a reputation of "pagoda".
Because of the flooding of Qingzhang River, be boarded by his godmother.
His painting "Lin Chong" in the entire open-hook-ray paint paper got a prize by the school activities.

1964, 12-year-old

Worked with his classmate Ren Baoting on a roman “My hometown has changed” in the sixth-grade of elementary school, aborted later.

1965, 13-year-old

Attended the Shexian first secondary school.

Met Wang Changchun and Cheng Dong , two arts teacher. After that he started with learning of sketches, drawings, colors, and painting-based. And he learned about Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Repin, Levitan, Kollwitz, Menzel, as well as the name of Leonardo da Vinci and other masters.

Responsed to the call of the school of work-study program, the school purchased a slide projector, and showed the students the self-painted slides.

1966, 14-year-old

Begin of Cultural Revolution.

Because of the National Student great series, Li Xiangming left his home for the first time, and saw the capital city Beijing, Tiananmen Square, China Art Gallery, campus of Beijing University, as well as the Nanjing Road in Shanghai, Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Wuhan and other cities.

1967, 15-year-old

Throughout the country begun to launch a painting of Chairman Mao like a wind, Li Xiangming followed Wang Changchun and Cheng Jindong to paint statues of Chairman Mao anywhere.

1968, 16-year-old

Called by the central government to participate the action of "educated youth to mountainous and rural areas", he left the school for hometowns.
Participated in the construction site work of "three-line", during that time he drew a lot of sketches.

1969, 17-year-old

He was recommended by the teacher to set the stage of the drama "Mountains and Rivers Map" as well as the copy opera "The Red Lantern", "got the Weihu Mountain with wisedom", "Sha Jia Bang", and made alterations revolving stage concept for Shexian theater company
In November he was recruited to join the army as a soldier with literary talent.

1970, 18-year-old

took part in the Taihang Mountains camping zipper foot in the troops.
Creation Slides "grain song" ( 80 pieces ) and " the love between soldiers and people" (102 pieces)
Introduction of his experiences in making slides show by the painting class for slideshow , organized in show workstation of Beijing Military Region

1971, 19-year-old
took part in the first fine arts creative writing workshops organized by Cheng Haiqing, Gao Rongguii, Xu Shunmin,Yan Gui-ming, Shi Ming Gao, Cao Zhanli, Hou Linpu, Li Xiangming in the Military Region, and met a number of painters in the army and the other active Hu Zhenyu, , Xie Zhi Gao, Jiang-feng, Wang Huaiqi, Zhao Guide, Zhong Zhihong, Wang Yu-wen, Han Yu in Hebei.
Completed the Oil Painting "re-tread As far as".

In painting’s practice, he realized and firmly believed that Angell, Rembrant’s painting is not a direct method of painting, like China meticulous covers suspect dye, but no one would give him the correct answer (in 1987 at the Central Academy of Fine Arts organized by the French experts in materials, technique workshop confirmed his perception and views).
